General

1.1 In these terms and conditions "Dormitory" means the accommodation in 'shared rooms' as further described in our most recent brochures as published from time to time; "Customer" means any customer who makes or is making a booking with the Hostel 639; "Group" means a group of 5 or more people staying at a Youth Hostel (in England and Wales) or a group of 9 or more people staying at a Youth Hostel outside of England and Wales under the group membership scheme; "Escape to" means the rental of an entire Youth Hostel by one Group; "Flexi/Explorer Packages" has the meaning given to it in our most recent brochures as published from time to time; "Writing" means letter, fax or email; "you" means the customer submitting a booking; "Youth Hostel" means a youth hostel run by the Hostel 639;

1.2 The contract for the supply by us of accommodation and (where applicable) other related services (“Contract”) will be formed when we accept your order and we receive from you the appropriate deposit in cleared funds.

1.3 Your Contract cannot be amended unless confirmed by an authorised representative of Hostel 639 and yourself.

1.4 These conditions and any matters referred to by us, form the entire understanding between you and us and supersede any prior promises, representations (unless fraudulent) or undertakings.

1.5 Any omission or error in any sales literature, web page or site, order form, invoices,  quotations, price list, order acknowledgement, despatch note, invoice or other document issued by us may be corrected by us without liability. We will advise you of any changes at the time of booking or as soon as is reasonably possible thereafter.

1.6 The provisions of the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 are expressly excluded from the Contract so that no third party may claim any rights under this contract.

Online Bookings

Bookings made through this system for youth hostels are intended for individuals or small parties to a maximum of 9 persons. The maximum duration for any hostel stage is 7 nights, which can be easily extended at check-in, subject to availability. Only registered partners are permitted to book for more 9 people online.
Beds purchased through our Website are not for resale unless by Registered Partners Bookings and accommodation for families and children.

Please note: Parties arriving with young children (under 5) will only be accommodated in designated family rooms, where available. Young children can share accommodation only with their parents or guardians. Bookings for family/private rooms cannot be made on-line using this system. This system is capable only of providing a bed booking facility, which guarantees beds in shared rooms. In order to request a family room, either the destination Hostel(s) or the Customer Services Department must be contacted directly in advance. groupbookings@hostel639.co.uk

From the age of 5 to 13 years, children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and may be put into a single sex shared room with the parent or guardian and other guests, at the discretion and responsibility of the parent or guardian. The children, the parent/guardian and the other occupants of the room must be of the same sex. We advise that additional notice be given to the destination hostel to help with operational planning.

Hostel 639 reserves the right to cancel any bookings confirmed or provisional/options  bookings which  may seem as unreasonable/conflict in business interest within 90 days prior to arrival, in the case of a deposit being paid Hostel 639 will refund the full deposit.

Hostel 639 cannot accept any liability where the hostel booking could not be fulfilled due to circumstances which we could not, even with due care, have foreseen or avoided. Such events may include, but are not limited to, war, threat of war, civil commotion or strife, hostilities, strikes or other industrial dispute, natural disaster, fire, act of God, terrorist activities, technical problems with transportation, closures of airports, ports and/or ferries, quarantine, epidemics, weather conditions, government action or other events outside our control.

For other unforeseen internal operational reasons, Hostel 639 may occasionally be forced to change or cancel one or more destination hostels. In such cases, every effort will be made to contact you in advance, using the contact details supplied at the time of booking or during any subsequent communication. In such cases, no surcharge will be made where customers are required to be relocated to a different hostel or alternative accommodation.
